Our self watering microgreen Grow to Eat trays are being used in many restaurants and resorts globally. We are offering a starter kit w our self watered trays, coir growing media, grow rack, scale and seeds. Each tray is approx 5"x7" so they take up minimal space. The included grow rack is silver and not the dark brown as pictured. Each level of the rack has lights and space for 3-6 trays.
The lights have a dimmer and timer function and are red/blue LED's with a 28w total power rating (enough for microgreens). Each level has 2 LED tubes.
This kit contains 32 self watering growing trays (reusable), enough supplies to grow out 100+ trays of a basic salad microgreen mix (broccoli, kale, arugula, kohlrabi, cabbage), sprayer head (place on plastic bottle) for moistening the seeds for initial germination, seed spreader for ease of seeding and a small micro scale for weighing out proper amount of seeds. The mix will yield a crop as pictured in 7-12 days of growth depending on your lighting and other conditions.
The growing trays and tank are reusable and have proven to be extremely durable. You can grow out 2-4 trays of microgreens per day with supplies for 30+ days of continuous daily production. We have found that a minimum of 2 trays per day is great for a starter use. It will take approx 20 mins per day to plant and oversee the plants. Once the first trays are harvested, you would replant two or more trays per day along with maintaining the trays (simple visual examination of the water tank will enable you to ensure proper hydration).
The display rack highlighted in the picture was constructed as a grow rack for the trays. Rack capacity is 12 trays so you can increase production easily. It takes anywhere from 7 - 12 days to grow out your crops so scheduling the plantings will depend on your needs. The kit will also include a small scale and seed spreader to help guide the amount of seed you place in your trays. We include 1lb of the mix which is enough for 100+ trays as the recommended seeding is 4-4.5 grams per tray.
Large installations like the Andaz Delhi (as pictured) have several hundred trays going at once that allows their chefs to have access to the finest nutrition and visual components for their customers.
